A secondary school in Darwen is seeking to appoint a versatile and enthusiastic Teacher of Science and Health & Social Care to join their committed and collaborative teaching team. This dual-role post offers the opportunity to engage students in both academic and vocational learning and to help them explore pathways into healthcare, social services, and scientific careers.

The Role:

The successful candidate will deliver high-quality teaching across Science subjects (Biology, Chemistry, and/or Physics) and Health & Social Care. You will support students across Key Stages 3 and 4, with a focus on engagement, progress, and preparing pupils for further education or career pathways.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons in Science and Health & Social Care
  • Assess and track student progress in line with school policies and national standards
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the curriculum in both subject areas
  • Provide a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student confidence and independence
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to raise standards and drive achievement
  • Participate in the wider life of the school and contribute to enrichment and extracurricular opportunities

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Have experience teaching Science and/or Health & Social Care in a secondary setting
  • Be passionate about delivering a curriculum that connects with real-world applications
  • Demonstrate excellent subject knowledge and a proactive approach to learning
  • Show strong communication and organisational skills, with a commitment to reflective practice
