Your New Role

As a skilled maintenance engineer (electrical bias) working in a manufacturing environment you will be responsible for installation, commissioning, maintenance, repair and testing of all mechanical equipment and all electrical / electronic, instrumentation and control equipment.

Some heavy manual handling may be required on occasions where the use of manual handling equipment is not practical. This role could also pave the pathway to a maintenance supervisor position.

The role may involve working over-time, weekends, holiday periods and call-outs as and when required.

Whilst on shift your core duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

To install, commission, maintain, repair and test mechanical equipment and electrical / electronic, instrumentation and control equipment in accordance with manufacturers’ instructions and company engineering and safety instructions
  • To assist to the limit of your ability in whatever capacity is required to achieve the objectives of the engineering team
  • To order parts, services and consumables and maintain adequate stock levels in stores
  • To liaise with other departments, particularly by informing the Production Supervisor / Team Leader of the intention to start work in each area and keeping the Production Supervisor / Team Leader aware of the status of any job
  • To report faults on equipment to the Maintenance and Production Supervisors
  • To keep the area associated with your activities clean and tidy and help sustain/implement 5S strategy
  • To comply with the Company Equal Opportunities Policy
  • To follow safety instructions accurately and to comply with the Company Health and Safety at Work Policy
  • Other duties, as required by the company.

What You'll Need To Succeed

In order to be considered for this role you will need to demonstrate the following skills, experience and qualifications:

Essential Criteria

Experience in the maintenance of process equipment in an industrial manufacturing environment (typical equipment may include pumps, fans, gearboxes, conveyors, mixers, hydraulics and pneumatics along with experience in the maintenance of single/three

-phase motor control systems, including fault-finding)
  • Time served engineering apprenticeship with City & Guilds qualifications or equivalent in a relevant subject
  • GCSE Mathematics Grade C or above
  • Demonstrate good numeracy and literacy skills especially accurate measuring skills
  • IT Literate
  • Ability to work independently on own initiative
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Ability to organise and prioritise work to meet deadlines
  • Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, holiday periods and call-outs as and when required
  • Fluent English speaker
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Desirable Criteria

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in the chemical industry
  • Knowledge and experience of refrigeration systems and/or steam systems and/or PLC control systems
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety requirements relating to working with equipment, particularly permit to work procedures
  • A forklift licence is desirable; however, training can be provided to achieve this.

This role offers a strong salary package of up to £40000 for working across a days only, Monday - Friday pattern.
