Mental Health Practitioner

We are looking to recruit a Mental Health Practitioner to come and work with our Mental Health Service in the Student Support and Safeguarding team.

Working in partnership with other teams and colleagues within the department (particularly our Therapeutic and Wellbeing Services) you’ll be contributing to a developing departmental vision of supporting students to enable students to thrive, as individuals, throughout their journey to, through and beyond the University of Bath.

You will be an experienced and creative Mental Health Professional (with professional registration in Social Work, Mental Health Nursing or Occupational Therapy) who can provide structured interventions and support planning for the students who need additional support during their time at University.

We are looking to recruit someone who can:
  • Work effectively to build collaborative relationships with students on their caseload and to co-produce support plans and safety with students to address their Mental Health needs at University
  • Work confidently to assess and manage any presenting MH risks to our students and University community as a whole
  • Work within our existing policies and in partnership with other internal services to manage student need and respond proportionately
  • Help us build excellent working relationships and joint practices with our colleagues in the NHS.

The Department of Student Support & Safeguarding is a lively and committed team of interconnected services who are working to support and enhance the student experience and are developing sector-leading practices to support both student and staff development.

The Mental Health, Therapeutic and Wellbeing Services work in close connection with colleagues in our Disability, Money Advice and Student Retention & Success services to create a holistic response to student needs, and to share our learning experiences across a multi-disciplinary team of dedicated professionals.

Further information

This is a full-time role, working 36.5 hours per week including contributing to a collaborative Duty Service (including providing occasional on-campus weekend cover) to manage incoming/urgent situations, and help shape future development of our offer in this area.
