Job overview

**This position is open to staff working at the Trust in the ‘ECT Family’ this includes current East Cheshire NHS Trust employees, both NHSP and ECT bank staff, ISS staff and volunteers at the Trust. Unfortunately, we cannot accept applications from applicants not listed within these groups.**

A part-time vacancy for 31.5 hours has arisen within the Clinical Administration Management team.

Applicants must have previous experience working as a medical secretary and being in a supervisory role. The successful applicant will undertake an extremely important and interesting range of duties such as; day to day supervision of staff within specified specialties, support in the recruitment and retention of staff, establish an induction programme for next starters, completing appraisals and agreeing staff objectives, ensuring staff receive team briefs, administration of set-up and training of software packages such as Medisec, Solventum and eDNF.

Main duties of the job

To ensure a consistent and co-ordinated approach in the management and provision of the clinical administration service across all Directorates.

To provide effective leadership and development of the service with the support of the Clinical Administration Manager within the area of responsibility in line with the strategic direction of the Trust.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • A-Level/ NVQ 3 or equivalent experience
  • Typing qualifications to RSAIII standard.
  • Computer literate to ECDL standard or equivalent.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of hospital procedures and policies (including HR, finance, patient access).
  • In depth knowledge of NHS policy (18 weeks, cancer targets)
  • Medical terminology
  • Good written and verbal communication skills – able to deal with people at all levels, including where there are barriers to understanding, using tact, diplomacy, and persuasion.
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Financial awareness
  • Knowledge of Information Governance requirements

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience in a supervisory role
  • Experience as a senior medical secretarial.
