This is a temporary role, initially 2-3 months. Please do not apply if you are seeking a permanent position.
Key Requirements:
CCAB qualified Accountant or AAT qualification, or a recognised auditing qualification, or a university honours degree.Up to date knowledge and understanding of Local Government finance.
Ability to use IT systems including Microsoft Word and Excel.
Working in a local government environment.
Experience in an Internal Audit environment or have experience of undertaking and reporting on complex reviews in a time limited environment.
Evidence of dealing with a wide range of clients up to senior management level.
We are seeking candidates to perform and report on systems, governance and financial audits as allocated by the Audit Manager. Where appropriate, in the absence of the Audit Manager, to assist in the management of the audit service.
Key Receptibilities:
Undertake special/ major assignments and reviews as directed by the Audit Manager or Head of Internal Audit and to contribute to the assurance model supporting the Council’s Annual Governance Statement.Prepare reports, findings and recommendations to clients, which could be internal or external to the Council at all levels of the organisation, including heads of service.
Attend officer meetings and working parties as necessary, including those relating to new systems development.
Positively represent the Council at inter-authority collaborative meetings.
Cover for the Audit Manager in their absence on audit matters as far as possible and to provide day-to day support and guidance to staff.
Prepare/ amend detailed programmes of audit work in the light of new and changing systems.
