Job Description

Glasgow Life is looking for a Festival Manager to join us on a full-time temporary contract. You will be part of a dedicated team which oversees and delivers Glasgow International Festival of Contemporary Art. This a key role in the leadership of the festival, working closely with the Festival Director to ensure the successful realisation of the biennial festival and its long-term development.

The role

As a Festival Manager, you’ll be an integral part of the team by reporting to the Festival Director and working alongside colleagues involved in the programming and delivery of the festival. You will be tasked with key managerial, strategic, fundraising and administrative responsibilities.

The candidate
If you’re interested in joining us as a Festival Manager you’ll need:
  • At least 5 years senior managerial experience within the contemporary arts or closely related sector
  • Good knowledge of the art sector in Glasgow and Scotland
  • Good communication and administrative skills with proven track record of delivering complex arts projects and events
  • A proven track record in successfully raising funds from trusts, foundations, government agencies and individual donors
  • The ability to think strategically and to generate policies and action plans to deliver results at organisational levels

Some of our roles are currently piloting hybrid working, with teams working between the office and home. Your line manager will agree these days with you. This balance enables you to continue much-needed collaborative working.

Our office at Tramway, 25 Albert Drive, Glasgow, G41 2PE, has great links to public transport and parking nearby.

The working schedule for this role is 28 hours per week until 1 June 2025, and then 35 hours per week until 30 September 2026. Standard working hours are Mon-Fri from 10am to 6pm, with some evening and weekend working required. Flexible working hours can be arranged with your line manager.

For Fixed Term Roles - If offer is made to internal employee (Glasgow Life or Council Family), at the end of the temporary period, eligible employees, if agreed will have a right to return to a role at their substantive grade within the council family.
