⦁ Take ownership and responsibility of the overall Design activities within the Design Dept.
⦁ Manage CAD system and MRP database to standardise drawings & BoMs. Ensuring all design documentation complies with current IS0 standards and internal company procedures.
⦁ To improve and update existing designs to achieve the use of common components, improve quality, reduce assembly times and cost. A clear understanding of materials and manufacturing techniques should be known.
⦁ Design new products including CNC grinding machines, Spindle Heads, Ball Screw Driven Tables, Rotary Tables, fixtures, loading mechanisms and tooling.
⦁ Design of slide ways, machine bases, precision machined components, machine enclosures, Fluid systems including hydraulic & pneumatic services, grease lubrication and cooling systems etc.
⦁ 3D CAD Modelling and 2D Drafting on Autodesk Inventor (other similar CAD packages can be considered) creating drawings of manufactured Cast, Welded and Sheet Metal components as well as complex CNC machine assemblies.
⦁ You should be able to calculate forces, stress, inertia, torque, etc.
⦁ Produce design solutions that meet customer and internal requirements, while conforming to safety and other legal requirements.
⦁ Manage task assignment within the department and junior design engineers.
⦁ Experience in complex machine assemblies, mechanism and tool design.

Full Time- Working Hours: Monday - Thursday 8am 4.30pm, Friday 8am 3.30pm
Friday 8.00-3.30£40k-£45k
Our established Coventry based is currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team. The ideal candidate must have experience in machine tools design (CNC machinery) and a strong background in 3D CAD Design preferably with Autodesk Inventor.An HNC or HND in Mechanical Design is preferable.
Whats the job?
⦁ Creating 3D designs from initial concept to 2D Engineering drawings and BOMs for manufacture.⦁ Take ownership and responsibility of the overall Design activities within the Design Dept.

⦁ Liaison with shop floor staff, electrical design engineers, sales team and suppliers.
This position requires a well-motivated, confident Mechanical Design Engineer who can demonstrate the following;
⦁ A strong background in Machine Building Industry, i.e. CNC or similar, 3D /2D Cad Design, geometric & dimensional tolerances, Calculations and FEA (desirable).⦁ Experience in complex machine assemblies, mechanism and tool design.
⦁ Experience of calculate inertia, torque, ball screws and bearing loadings etc.
