Consultant Psychiatrist and Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer (10PA)

This post will attract a Recruitment & Retention Premia for 3 years as follows:
20% of basic salary in the first 12 months
15% of basic salary in the second 12 months
10% of basic salary in the third 12 months

We are excited to launch the recruitment of this exciting and innovative new post, which has been developed in partnership with The Pears Cumbria School of Medicine. The role has two parts to it:
Consultant Psychiatrist– this would be a permanent role and we have opportunities available in a wide range of psychiatric specialties within The Bay locality. The main work base would be dependent on the clinical role undertaken. The clinical services are based either in Barrow in Furness, Kendal or Lancaster/Morecambe within The Bay locality.
Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer– this would be for 3 years (with a satisfactory annual review) and based at the Pears Cumbria School of Medicine in Carlisle.
There may be the opportunity to contribute to the Consultant On Call rota, for which additional remuneration would be paid.
This is an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join LSCft and to be an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the Pears Cumbria School of Medicine.
The Pears Cumbria School of Medicine (PCSM) is a new venture between the University of Cumbria and Imperial College London. Our aim is to produce doctors committed to delivering cutting-edge healthcare approaches and serve the needs of the Cumbria community.PCSM will be based at the University of Cumbria’s Carlisle campus and will open in September 2025. Our vision is to be collaborative, inclusive and research-informed. We aim to produce skilled clinicians who are adaptable and focused on the delivery of safe and sustainable, high quality and person-centred care to improve health outcomes for the people of Cumbria.
The PCSM graduate-entry MBBS programme will equip students with generalist skills and the ability to adapt and apply knowledge to different environments, circumstances and challenges.
The other part to the post will be as a practising clinician, embedded in the relevant clinical service within the Trust. Consultant job descriptions are available for each service, and are available for your speciality on request, including details of the service, staffing establishments and an example clinical job plan.
Applicants should hold full GMC registration and be included on the GMC Specialist Register or they should be eligible for entry to the Specialist Register within 6 months of the interview date.
The 10 PA role would include up to 4 PAs for educational time, 3.5 PAs for clinical time and 2.5 PAs for SPA time. Other benefits of this role include:
- At least 2.5 SPAs as standard for a full time post (we would be flexible in looking at enhancements to support other activities that support the wider ambitions of the Trust).

It is a requirement that applicants are Section 12 Approved at the time of commencing employment and have or are eligible to have Approved Clinician Status. Remuneration will be as set out in the terms of the New Consultant Contract according to previous experience.
