An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Paediatric Critical Care Unit based at The James Cook University Hospital for Band 5 Staff nurses. We look after children from birth until 18 years requiring short term intensive care or high dependency care.

We care for children who are critically ill due to medical, surgical or trauma reasons and a family centred approach to care is essential.

Main duties of the job

We are a team committed to delivering and maintaining high quality patient care and are looking to attract a nurse that shares our goal. In return we will support ongoing professional development by way of full preceptorship and provide opportunities for the individual to develop their clinical skills.

Applicants must demonstrate effective communication skills, be enthusiastic, well-motivated and a share a commitment to team working.

Registration with the NMC as a RSCN/Child Branch nurse is essential.

South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust offers leadership and improvement training to all new staff. Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Current NMC registration (child subpart)
Desirable criteria
  • Relevant teaching qualification e.g. MIP/998

Knowledge and skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to work within the boundaries of the NMC professional Code of Conduct.
  • A team player able to work well with others and demonstrate commitment to team objectives.

Personal attributes

Essential criteria
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to the needs of the service including a flexible and adaptable approach in the work environment/ work practices
  • Effectively prioritise and co-ordinate own work

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of multi-disciplinary working.
  • Experience of working within an acute or community setting
  • Experience of utilising evidence-based practice.
Desirable criteria
  • PILS/PLS/APLS
  • Evidence of participation in audit/service improvement

Disclosure and Barring Checks (DBS)
