Substance Misuse Nurse
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Band 6 Community Nurse to join our Substance Misuse Team, specialising in drugs and alcohol. This is a full-time role working Monday to Friday, offering a competitive hourly rate of £30.00 (umbrella). Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert nursing care to individuals affected by drug and alcohol misuse within the community.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments, including physical and mental health reviews, for clients with complex needs.
- Develop and deliver tailored care plans, in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, that focus on harm reduction, detoxification, and long-term recovery.
- Administer medications, including substitute prescribing (e.g., methadone), and monitor withdrawal symptoms.
- Offer advice and support on safer drug use, health promotion, and overdose prevention.
- Liaise with GPs, social services, housing, and other external partners to provide a holistic approach to client care.
Requirements:
- NMC registered nurse (Adult/Mental Health) with experience at Band 6 level.
- Proven background in substance misuse, particularly with drugs and alcohol.
- Strong knowledge of harm reduction strategies and treatment options for substance misuse.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for community visits.
