We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated District Heating Services Manager to oversee the management, operation, and development of our district heating services. This role will involve leading a team of technical and operational staff, ensuring the efficient and reliable delivery of heating services to residential, commercial, and industrial customers.
The successful candidate will have a strong technical background in energy systems, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to delivering sustainable heating solutions.
The Role:
So, what will you be doing as anOperations Manager?
Lead the day-to-day operation of our district heating networks, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and customer satisfaction. Monitor and manage heating systems, including boilers, CHP's, heat exchangers, pumps, and pipelines.
Manage and supervise a team of Engineers and support staff. Provide training, development, and performance management to ensure high standards of service delivery.
- Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
Oversee planned and reactive maintenance activities, ensuring minimal disruption to customers. Resolve complex technical issues promptly to avoid service downtime.
- Health, Safety, and Compliance:
Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations. Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement within the team. Conduct risk assessments and audits regularly.
In conjunction with the Regional Head of Operations, prepare and manage operational budgets, ensuring cost-effective solutions and optimal use of resources. Monitor expenditures and recommend improvements in operational efficiency.
- Customer Relationship Management:
Act as a point of contact for key clients, addressing customer concerns and ensuring high levels of service. Work with the customer service team to resolve complaints and ensure satisfaction.
Lead and support the Asset Adoptions team on system expansions, upgrades, and integration of renewable technologies. Manage the implementation of projects within given timelines.
- Sustainability Initiatives:
Promote energy efficiency and sustainability within the district heating systems. Identify opportunities to integrate renewable energy sources and other innovative technologies to reduce environmental impact.
Prepare regular reports on operational performance, financial performance, and key metrics. Analyse data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
What are we looking for in our next Operations Manager?
Appropriate technical qualifications: appropriate City & Guilds mechanical or electrical or equivalent
Minimum of 5 years of experience in district heating, energy management, or a related field, with at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
Strong knowledge of district heating systems, including heat generation, distribution, and metering technologies. Familiarity with building energy management systems and relevant software.
Proven ability to lead and motivate a team. Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including customers, team members, and senior management.
In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations within the workplace.
Desirable Qualifications:

- Knowledge of renewable energy integration in district heating networks.
- Familiarity with energy regulations and sustainability standards.
