Construction Operative/LGV Driver

Working Pattern: 40 hrs per week – Monday to Friday

Location: Bilsthorpe

Via is currently looking for a Construction Operative/LGV Driver to join our Construction and Maintenance Delivery Team based at our Bilsthorpe Depot, Nottinghamshire.

You will work as part of a team who are responsible for delivering construction works and act as the initial point of contact for day-to-day operational issues in the absence of the Foreman.

The Job
Key areas of responsibility will include: –
  • Undertake highway construction works, and support the foreman and other operatives on site, liaising with the team and supporting with day to day issues.
  • Responsible as the LGV driver, driving various vehicles, including but not limited to, hot box, tipper lorries, maintaining driver qualifications to enable works to be delivered on sites.
  • Comply with all relevant health safety and environmental legislation and procedures taking personal responsibility for own and others Health and safety and welfare.
  • Assist the Foreman with documentation and specifications associated with highway construction and maintenance works, comply with systems of works and all associated processes and procedures. E.g. Risk assessments, Method statements etc.
  • Support with the efficient ordering, control and utilisation of materials, plant and vehicles to allow works to be completed.
  • Comply with all routine daily checks of vehicles and plant are undertaken recording to legal requirements and reporting any damages or defects found.
The Person
Mainly you will be excited to be a vital part of our Maintenance Delivery Team but there are just a few other things we’d like from you: –
  • NVQ level 3 in Construction or equivalent knowledge gained through practical experience of Highway associated works.
  • Hold Industry recognised qualifications, New Roads and Street Works Act and First Aid.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation including Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
  • Knowledge of Construction Plant and materials associated with Highway Maintenance Works.
  • Understanding of driver’s regulations, vehicle checks, tachographs, vehicle loading and securing.
  • Full Category C Driving Licence (C+E desirable)
  • Ability to maintain driver qualifications such as CPC, that are required of the role and undertake any advanced driver training and medical certification.
