Job Summary
To provide a wide range of activities to interest and stimulate the physical and mental state and well-being of the residents. To understand the need of promoting the philosophy of privacy, dignity, independence, choice, rights and fulfilment for all residents, therefore treating everyone with respect.
Within the home the post of Activities Coordinator is to motivate and guide the care staff

in the home activity programme, under the direction of the Home Manager.

Principal Duties
The Activities Coordinator will be required to carry out the following duties:
  1. To participate in enhancing the intellectual and social wellbeing of the residents to provide as far as possible, a happy and stimulating experience. Help residents to socialise within the care home.
  2. Encourage staff members, relatives, and friends to participate in the home’s activities
  3. To plan ongoing weekly activity rotas in conjunction with the residents wishes and encourage residents to maintain pre-existing hobbies.
  4. To assess individual needs continuously, particularly with regard to possible rehabilitation and to participate in resident reviews as appropriate.
  5. Maintain full and accurate records of activities using PCS to plan and document, in order to monitor, record and evaluate individual and group participation and success.
  6. To keep abreast with new developments in the field of caring for older people.
  7. Foster good community relations and assist in the organisation of fund-raising initiatives within the home.
  8. To assist the Home Manager in planning the home's special events such as summer fetes, coffee mornings, etc. To help organise and attend any local events, such as garden parties, tea dances, carol concerts, etc.
  9. To assist the Home Manager in actively marketing the home and promoting a positive profile within the community, including blogging on the company website
Health & Safety:
  1. To be responsible for your own Health and Safety and that of anybody else who may be affected by your acts or omissions.
  2. To complete risk assessments on activities, outings and events as necessary.
  3. To comply with company policies and guidance around H&S
  4. Promote safe working practice in the care home
Communication:
  1. Discuss the aims and objectives of recreational therapy with other staff members.
  2. Report any changes in residents’ physical or emotional condition to the Home Manager or Senior Carer.
  3. Provide comfort and company, on a one-to-one basis, for residents who are unable to participate in any form of activity.
  4. Arrange and participate in staff and resident meetings, as and when required.
  5. Facilitate resident focus groups to shape decisions made within the home and advocate a strong representative voice
Training and Development:
  1. Ensure all staff members know how to use appropriate equipment
  2. Complete mandatory induction and training courses, as and when required
  3. Maintain professional knowledge and competence.
General Duties:
  1. To be fully conversant and act in compliance with the home’s policies and procedures.
  2. To carry out any other tasks that may be reasonably assigned to you
  3. Ensure that resident confidentiality is maintained at all times
  4. Ensure all equipment is in good working order, clean and maintained

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From £12.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15 per week
