We are looking for a dedicated Clinic Support Worker to join our team.
In this role, you will work to support clinicians in delivering high-quality care to patients with cancer.
Your responsibilities will include assisting with patient observations, preparing patients for examinations, and ensuring smooth communication between various departments such as Radiology, Pharmacy, and Oncology. Main duties of the job
To provide a service that is tailored to meet the needs of the individual and to understand what our patients need and be adaptable and responsive where required.- Ensure that patients understand their follow-up arrangements and explains the timing of any investigations requested by the clinician
- Meet with the team on a weekly basis to discuss clinic requirements for the forthcoming week. On a daily basis, liaise with colleagues to ensure that all clinics are covered and reports to manager when required
- Measure and record patient height and weight
- Bring up results of investigations to include IHCS, PACS, Ultragenda, Infoflex screens during clinics as required
- Advises/assist patients in preparing for clinical examination, maintaining privacy/dignity at all times
- Following a decision to treat, ensures that all necessary paperwork is completed correctly and relevant staff informed, so that appointments can be made with the minimum of delay. Also discusses transport requirements with patient and enquires re preferred time of day for treatment.
- Demonstrates own activities or workplace routines to new or less experienced employees placed within the Oncology Office/Reception area

Person specification
Qualifications and training
Essential criteria- Good standard of education / GCSE Maths and English or Equivalent
- NVQ in Care Level Two
- Experience in the healthcare environment/basis patient care skills.
- To undertake Venepuncture training (may be done on appointment)
- Able to take ECGs
Knowledge and experience
Essential criteria- Approachable, supportive and flexible
- Able to work as part of a team
- Knowledge of hospital systems - IHCS, Cyberlab, Ultragenda, InSight Pacs, Cris, Clinical Portal Infoflex
- A knowledge of medical terminology
- Basic understanding of Oncology to include diseases treated, treatment options and special needs of patients
- Knowledge of timing of various pre appointment investigations
- Familiar with Cancer Support Team and individuals’ roles
Specific Skills
Essential criteria- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
- Ability to support patient/carers in distressing circumstances (receiving bad news)
