Pupil and Family Support Worker - Barnsley
What skills and experience we're looking for
Skills and experience you will need:
- Be qualified to at least NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a related discipline
- Experience in a mental health role with children, possibly school based, and a commitment to further training
- Experience of working within the community, particularly with children and their families
- Excellent communication skills including the ability to make good use of ICT
- A strong commitment to multi-agency working
- Good listening skills and an understanding of common family problems;
- The ability to deal with confidential information and sensitive issues;
- A strong, calm and confident approach in difficult situations;
- The ability to work well with pupils, parents, teachers and other professionals;
- An understanding of the law about education and keeping children safe;
Experience of carrying out family-based assessments, working in a multi-agency manner and delivering training to parents would be advantageous. Training will be available for the successful candidate as well as the opportunity to network.

The Governors wish to appoint an enthusiastic, caring, knowledgeable, flexible and friendly person to join our team in the role of Parent Support Advisor and Pupil Wellbeing Officer. - Support the class teacher with a range of learning activities and support pupils in their learning
- Support the schools work on positive mental health
