Manchester Islamic Grammar School for Girls is an independent all-girls secondary school for students aged 11–16, located on the Fielden Campus, West Didsbury, Manchester, M20 2PQ. West Didsbury is an affluent suburb of South Manchester, ideally situated with easy access to bus and tram routes into Manchester city centre.

It is a vibrant area, offering a balance of cosmopolitan energy and a village-like atmosphere.

We are a relatively small school of approximately 290 students. Alongside our partner schools, KD Grammar School for Boys and Manchester Muslim Preparatory School, we form part of the highly successful Manchester Islamic Educational Trust, founded in 1991.

We have been rated Outstanding in our last three Ofsted inspections.

Our mission is to prepare, engage, and enthuse our students by helping them identify their talents and build on their strengths. We offer a fully enriched SMSC programme, enabling students to demonstrate their skills beyond the classroom and develop into responsible adults who contribute positively to both their communities and the wider society.

As a Muslim school, faith is at the heart of everything we do and is central to the school’s ethos.

At Key Stage 4, students follow the AQA GCSE syllabus for Religious Studies.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, committed, and highly motivated Muslim teacher in line with the faith ethos of the school to be able to teach Islamic Studies, with the ability to deliver high-quality education that inspires a love of learning and a determination among students to achieve their highest potential.

As well as running sports enrichment activities.

You will have:

  • A degree-level qualification in Religious Studies or a related field
  • A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE with QTS), preferably with experience teaching in UK schools
  • The right to work in the UK
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A commitment to supporting the ethos of the school in all respects

Please see the attached job description and person specification for full details.

We follow the Manchester City Council calendar for term dates and school closures.

We value our staff and their commitment to our ethos. Therefore, we also offer additional paid leave during the following periods, provided these do not fall within the scheduled main school holidays:

  • The last five working days of Ramadan
  • Shorter teaching days during Ramadan
  • Two days for Eid al-Fitr
  • One day for the Day of Arafah
  • Two days for Eid al-Adha

In addition, paid leave is available on a rota basis for staff travelling for Hajj for the first time.

If you are passionate about teaching and making a difference in the lives of young people, we encourage you to apply. We welcome applications from both ECTs and experienced teachers, and from individuals of any faith or none.

Please download our school recruitment pack (attached) and visit our website at www.migsg.miet.co.uk for more information.

Please note: Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted. If you have not been contacted regarding an interview within four weeks, your application will have been unsuccessful. We reserve the right to close the application deadline earlier than advertised due to a high volume of applications.

We will only accept completed application forms. These must be submitted along with a supporting statement (maximum two A4 pages) and sent to the Acting Headteacher’s PA, Yasmeen Khan, at pa@migsg.miet.uk. Please note: CVs submitted without a completed application form will not be considered.

Safeguarding Recruitment Statement:

We are fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be required to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, including checks with previous employers.
