Skills & Experience:
A relevant qualification in law, enforcement, or a related field (e.g., NVQ, diploma, or equivalent).In-depth knowledge of enforcement legislation, local government regulations, and relevant policies.
Understanding of health and safety regulations and compliance procedures.
Knowledge of risk management and compliance monitoring.
Significant experience in enforcement or regulatory roles, with a proven track record of managing complex cases.
Experience in supervising or mentoring staff.
Experience working with legal processes and preparing case reports for hearings or legal proceedings.
Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide staff.
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to engage with the public, stakeholders, and legal bodies effectively.
Proven ability to handle sensitive information and apply sound judgment in decision-making.
What's involved with this role: The Senior Enforcement Officer will lead and manage enforcement activities to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and policies. This role involves overseeing the enforcement of laws related to environmental, planning, and regulatory matters within the community, ensuring that any violations are addressed swiftly and effectively.You will manage complex cases, provide guidance and support to junior enforcement officers, and contribute to the continuous improvement of enforcement strategies to protect the public and maintain compliance.
Key responsibilities:
Oversee and lead the enforcement of laws and regulations, ensuring compliance with relevant policies and legislation, and managing investigations into cases of non-compliance.Provide leadership and guidance to junior enforcement officers, ensuring they adhere to legal procedures and handle cases effectively.
Manage complex case investigations, gather evidence, and prepare detailed reports for legal proceedings or enforcement actions.
Ensure the implementation and continual improvement of enforcement policies, ensuring they remain up-to-date and aligned with regulatory requirements.
Build and maintain strong relationships with external agencies, stakeholders, and the public to resolve disputes and facilitate effective communication.
Identify and manage potential risks to ensure compliance, and advise on preventative measures to mitigate regulatory issues.
Maintain accurate records and documentation for all enforcement actions, ensuring they meet legal standards and are ready for review or audit.
