This role supports the Principal Electrical Authorising Engineer in promoting electrical

safety awareness and fostering a strong safety culture across Thames Water.

You will help raise awareness of Thames Water's Electrical Safety Rules and actively develop Electrical Approved Procedures to ensure compliance and improve safety standards.

hat you’ll be doing as a Senior Electrical Authorising Engineer
  • Support creating electrical safety awareness and culture across Thames Water.
  • Assessment, appointment, and audit processes are being overseen and improved.
  • Electrical Safety Rules and Electrical Approved Procedures are reviewed and updated following agreed plans.
  • Electrical safety incidents are thoroughly investigated, and the necessary actions are implemented to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Apply industry-wide electrical safety learning to update and improve Asset Standards.

This role will be at Clearwater Court or Hampton Coal Wharf, Hybrid. You must attend the office and sites as needed for the role and business.

36 hours a week, Monday to Friday.

Must be a driver and have access to a car; this role does come with a car allowance.

What you should bring to the role
  • Hold extensive electrical safety experience in high- and low-voltage systems and meaningful experience in the water industry.
  • Extensive experience in electrical assessment and authorisation processes.
  • Ability to influence senior colleagues and maintain electrical safety focus under operational pressure.
  • Degree level or equivalent with professional charter ship likely in their Engineering Discipline.
  • Competence in incident investigation with the ability to establish root causes and produce targeted improvement plans to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Has previously acted as a Senior Authorised Person on complex high-voltage systems.
  • Knowledge of Electrical Engineering design.
  • Ability to assess changes to regulations and their impact on Thames Water.
