About the role

As a Teacher of RS at Downsend School, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality education within the Humanities Faculty. You will teach Religious Studies to Senior School pupils, working collaboratively with the Head of Humanities to ensure effective progression in teaching and learning.

The successful candidate will engage actively in extracurricular activities, contributing to the vibrant school community, and provide assessments that accurately track and support pupils' achievements. Commitment to maintaining a safe and supportive environment is essential, alongside adherence to safeguarding policies.

This is a part-time 0.6FTE, fixed-term role acting as Maternity Cover with a proposed September 2025 start date.

Who we are looking for:

We are seeking an outstanding and qualified Humanities Teacher with a passion for their subject and a strong commitment to student development. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and organizational skills, an ability to teach RS to GCSE level, and a willingness to support students in a co-curricular setting.

A cheerful demeanour and high expectations of attainment are essential. An understanding of the independent education sector and the ability to teach a second Humanities subject, at least at KS3 level would be desirable. Furthermore, we value candidates who demonstrate energy, enthusiasm, and a readiness to go the extra mile, contributing positively to our team and enhancing the educational experience for our pupils.
