Practice Nurse/Nurse Associate
Assess, implement and review treatment plans as needed for individual patients. Support the larger team in dealing with emergencies Delegate clinical responsibilities to HCAs, ensuring safe practice and that the delegated task is within the scope of practice of the individual Baseline observations - height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, oxygen saturation, temperature, respiration rate, etc.
Urinalysis Peak flow measurements Performing ECGs Venepuncture and requesting pathology services as necessary Removal of clips and sutures Wound care Leg ulcer bandages including compression bandages only after adequate training Compression hosiery measurement Responsibility in keeping clinical rooms tidy and stocked up as allocated by the lead nurse Ear irrigation Provide vaccination in line with the PGDs Run childhood immunisation clinincs Recognise patients presenting with mental health issues and seek advice as appropriate from duty doctor Deliver opportunistic health promotion when appropriate Undertake cervical screening and maintain cervical screening logs Ensuring good communication with patients, relatives and carers Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with the existing legislation Ensure read codes are used appropriatelly Participate in quality improvement e.g. audit, development of protocols and new services.
Attend practice/clinical/nurse meetings and contribute to the agenda in the development of the nursing service and where appropriate wider practice systems. Participate in clinical supervision, 1:1 meetings and yearly appraisals. Support junior members of the nursing team, providing guidance when necessary Participate in the review of significant events and near-miss events Any other jobs allocated by the lead nurse Any other jobs given by Leadership / Management
