The Integrated Community Paediatric Service (ICPS)is looking for a dynamic and experienced paediatric nurse to provide leadership and line management to the Special Schools Nursing Team and Training Team.

The Special Schools Nursing Team provide service to the four special schools in Bolton. They ensure that the health and wellbeing of the children and young people(CYP) is maximised and support education staff to meet their needs through training and care plans.

The safety of the CYP is paramount and safeguarding is integral to the role.

The Training Team delivers clinical skills training to nurseries, mainstream schools, social care and also supports the training of registered staff and healthcare support workers in the ICPS.

The Team Leader will promote effective team work within the wider ICPS, health, social care , education and voluntary service providers to ensure seamless delivery of services for children, young people and their families.

Main duties of the job

As a Team Leader within the service, provide effective leadership and line management to the Special Schools Team, Training Team and the wider Integrated Community Paediatric Service.

To work with and support the Matron, with the development of practice initiatives, encouraging innovation and development and ensuring that the team participate in patient safety and quality improvement programmes.

To establish and maintain a good working relationship with colleagues, other health, education and social care providers, so as to provide a comprehensive service to children, young people and their families.

To participate in multi-agency working groups at a local and regional level to develop services and policies for children and young people with health needs in the community.

To work in partnership with other health professionals and agencies to safeguard children and young people.

The Trust also has a tertiary level Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, enabling 1 in 4 women across Greater Manchester to receive in-utero transfer and birth at extreme premature gestation at Bolton.

The Team Leader will provide clinical and professional leadership to the Special Schools Nursing Team and the Training Team to deliver a high quality service to children, young people, carers and other service users.

Working in partnership with health, education, social care ensuring that the Trust, ‘Our Priorities’ and SEND agenda is reflected in every aspect of the care delivered.

Promote effective team work within the wider children’s community team and with other health care, stakeholders and service providers to ensure seamless delivery of services for children, young people and their families.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • RSCN / RN (Child) / SCPHN
  • BSc (Hons) Child Health / Diploma in Nursing
  • Mentorship
Desirable criteria
  • Leadership / Management Course
  • Safeguarding

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Senior nurse experience on a paediatric unit / community setting
  • Ability to prioritise workload / and work on own initiative
  • Experience and knowledge of SEND agenda
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of leading a team

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to communicate complex and sensitive information
  • Understanding of clinical governance
