This is an exciting opportunity to be the strategic and professional lead for Older People Psychology provision within Acute Inpatient Services, with additional professional leadership responsibility for Community Older People Psychology, in East Cheshire.
This brand new 8c Consultant Clinical Psychologist Locality Lead post for older people demonstrates CWP’s commitment to improving the psychological and trauma informed care provided to patients, families and staff in the acute services pathway.

This post is part of the first phase of creating an established and sustainable

Trust-wide Psychology workforce within the acute pathway for older people and working age adults. In recognition of this being a new development, we are offering this post at 8c with the option of it being an 8b/c development post. You would be supported to develop the service while gaining 8c level competencies and experience with an individual development and support plan.

As the Consultant Clinical Psychologist Lead you will be responsible for providing clinical, professional and strategic leadership in developing and maintaining systematic, high quality and comprehensive psychology services for older people within the acute pathway, and for professional and clinical leadership for the community Older People Psychology service in a locality.
There will also be professional responsibility for locality Mental Health Liaison Psychology. You will be based in an inpatient service and work with the locality senior leadership team(s) and specialty clinical network to enhance and evaluate the psychological care offer for older people across acute inpatient wards, respite and urgent care services provided by the multi-professional workforce and in overall service planning and transformation across the locality and specialty.

Providing training, consultancy, supervision and support to multi-professional staff, teams and managers will be essential, as will taking a strategic and pragmatic approach to service evaluation, audit and research as part

of on-going quality improvement. You will also provide highly specialist psychological assessment and intervention, and input to care and treatment planning and discharge planning for individual patients, working as part of the multidisciplinary team and as an autonomous specialist Consultant.

CWP is an innovative and transformational all-ages mental health service provider. There will be opportunities to join internal and external professional and clinical networks, undertake research, and provide training and support to the next generation of psychology and mental health practitioners.

There are strong connections to the three main DClinPsy regional training programmes (Liverpool, Lancaster and

Manchester). You will join the CWP Consultant Psychologists and Consultant Psychotherapists Group, a newly established, dynamic group with responsibility for developing and ensuring effective governance of psychological service provision across CWP.

Clinical and professional supervision will be provided, and on-going continuing professional development supported.
