This is a fixed term contract for 12 months.
This is an exciting opportunity for an ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) Finance Manager to play a crucial role in the delivery of our program to shape, develop and embed our ESG reporting process strategy and our risk and control framework across our core ESG processes.
Passionate about sustainability, but also about process & control improvement, this role will work closely with the different ESG and Finance teams to understand, document and assess data flows, risks and controls in the production of ESG information and help ensuring data reliability in the context of increasing regulation and enhanced attention from internal and external stakeholders.The role will also be the point of contact with our external auditors for queries on the assigned ESG processes.
This is a project based role, supporting our readiness for new regulation, there will be two core components working on mapping the end-to-end processes for multiple ESG KPIs and data points. The role will have exposure to many different ESG and Finance areas, such as: Environment, Sustainability, People and Communities teams, Investor Relations, Group Communications, Treasury and Finance Controls.
You will be responsible for- Partnering with the business to review and document the end-to-end the ESG core processes for capturing, calculating, producing and reporting ESG-related information (KPIs and other data) across different business units.
- Identifying and assessing reporting risks and likely sources of misstatement for key ESG processes, and the controls in place to mitigate those risks.
- Identifying potential control gaps, discuss them with the business and agreeing remedial actions.
- Testing the design and the operation of the controls, and of the remediated control gaps, according to the Tesco testing methodology and report on the results
- Promoting process and control standardisation and efficiency across business units.
- Liaising with internal and external auditors on queries and requests regarding the processes reviewed by the role.
- Working closely with the Finance Change and technology team who will use your work as the basis for improving or automating the production of ESG reporting.
- Core understanding of business processes and associated risks and controls.
- Practical experience of internal controls (either in control design, implementation and testing).
- Knowledge of ESG issues is desirable : key topics, regulatory landscape, standards, etc.
- Knowledge of Reporting and Corporate Governance.
- Strong communication skills to include report writing, presentation, influencing and relational skills.
