At Remedy we are looking for a Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENDCo) is a valuable and key member of our team, playing a complex and specialist role within our learning community.

As an experienced 'SENDCo' You will take responsibility for coordinating all the support for children with Special Educational Needs and or Disabilities (SEND) and developing the school's SEND Policy to make sure all children get a consistent, high-quality response to meeting their needs in school.

As a lead professional you will contribute to, alongside the SLT, monitoring and evaluating the performance of all support staff and support the delivery of improvement strategies for SEND.

Coordinator Job Description:

  • Job: Special Educational Needs Coordinator
  • Start Date: 24th October 2024
  • Rate: £230 - £260 per day.
  • Contract: Part Time, 30 hours
  • Location: Based in Lambeth

Ideal SEND Coordinator role:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Hold an appropriate SENCo Qualification OR have experience in a SENCO role and be willing to undertake qualification within 2 years of taking up post.
  • A proven record of good or outstanding teaching practice.
  • An excellent, efficient and emotionally intelligent communicator.
  • Sound working knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice.
  • A strong desire to work inclusively within an emotionally literate environment, supporting children who have experienced adverse childhood experiences (ACEs).
  • Experience of crisis-management/managing challenging behaviours and working with children with SEMH difficulties.
  • The ambition to progress professionally within an expanding, child-centred national organisation.
  • Experience of effective working with hard-to-reach or disengaged families.

SEND Coordinator Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage SEN provision within the school, ensuring all students receive the support necessary for their success.
  • Develop and implement tailored strategies and interventions for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and other associated learning difficulties and behavioural challenges.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers, support staff, and parents to create and maintain Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress of students with SEN, adjusting support as needed to achieve the best outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements and maintain accurate, up-to-date records.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on SEN best practices and effective strategies.
