We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and proactive individual to a Support Worker role within the Community Therapy Team. Working alongside Therapists whilst also following pathways and protocols to work more independently.
The Children's Physiotherapy Team is part of the Community Children's and Young Peoples Specialist Service sitting within the Community Health Care Group.
Main duties of the job
Our service offers physiotherapy and occupational therapy for children within clinic bases and the community . Our Therapy Team consists of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Orthotists, Assistant Practitioners, and Support Workers providing therapy support and input for the children, families and carers to enable them to improve their function, reach and maintain their independence and achieve their goals.
The duties of this post include carrying out delegated tasks to support the physiotherapists. Working alongside them with patients and also working more independently to support children and young people access their physiotherapy equipment and programmes at schools, nurseries and in their homes.

You will work in varied locations such as special schools, mainstream schools and nurseries. You may also work within a clinic setting and also in people's homes. We are looking for someone with good communication skills who has the ability and flexibility to work as part of the multi-disciplinary team.A full programme of training would be available for the successful applicant.
You must have previous experience of working in either with children/ young people and within a therapy rehabilitation environment.
A full UK driving licence and vehicle for business use is required for this post; however reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled individuals in line with the Equality Act 2010.

Experience
Essential criteria- Experience of working with children and young people.
- Experience working as a therapy support worker/assistant
- Experience working as part of a team
- Experience of working within therapy services
- Experience of working within the NHS
- Past responsibility for training/supervising other support staff
Knowledge
Essential criteria- Some knowledge and understanding of normal child development
- Knowledge of neurodevelopmental paediatric conditions, e.g. co-ordination difficulties, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome
- Working knowledge of Excel and Word computer programmes
- Knowledge of physiotherapy
Skills
Essential criteria- Ability to demonstrate sound communication skills both verbal and written to patients, carers and staff
- To have a caring, empathic and positive attitude when working with all patients, carers and colleagues.
- Good I.T. Skills
- To have good organisational skills

Qualifications
Essential criteria- General education to GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience in health or social care
- A range of non-routine work procedures which require theoretical knowledge to foundation degree level or equivalent experience
Contractual Requirements
Essential criteria- A full UK driving licence and vehicle for business use is required for this post
- Ability to work in the Hydrotherapy pool area (heat/humidity)
