Summary:Insmed Cambridge UK are seeking an expert Medicinal Synthetic Chemist to join us as we build our discovery team, contributing to team growth, expansion of our in house capabilities and progression of our novel project pipeline. You will play a pivotal role in the design and synthesis of novel molecules to translate our groundbreaking biological discoveries into pioneering medicines.

Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the establishment of a dynamic medicinal chemistry group.
- Develop innovative in-silico and synthetic techniques to drive drug design, positively impacting progression of medicinal chemistry programs.
- Design creative and efficient methodologies to efficiently access synthetic targets on milligram to gram scale against tight timelines.
- Execute a broad range of core laboratory skills covering a range of different chemistries.
- Partner with CROs to troubleshoot medicinal and synthetic challenges, enabling timely execution of project activities.
- Collaborate interdepartmentally (biology, pharmacology, ADME) to drive efficiencies in the Design-Make-Test-Analyse cycles and to find opportunities to publish work.
- Lead on resolving synthetic and analytical challenges, developing the capability of the team through mentoring and management.
- Drive the adoption of safe working practices and processes in our new labs.
- Superuser of chemistry and analytical instrumentation.
What we are looking for:
- Relevant MSc or PhD coupled with industry experience (5+ years)
- Proven creativity in solving complex synthetic and medicinal chemistry challenges, drawing on a broad knowledge of medicinal chemistry, organic synthesis, practical and analytical techniques.
- Exceptional communication skills coupled with the ability to co-create, lead change and work collaboratively to impact drug discovery programs and bring new thinking to develop our capabilities. You may have led a small team or had experience developing others.
- This role will require you to work from our brand-new state-of-the-art labs situated in Babraham Research Campus, South Cambridge.
