Job overview

We are seeking an organised and methodical individual to support the planning processes of the ICB relating to National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidance.

You will have the ability to learn new concepts and terminology quickly and be comfortable with supporting projects and meetings across a wide range of specialist areas. You will also be able to engage effectively with individuals across the local health care system and maintain accurate and up-to-date records and documentation.

Your role will involve assimilating and understanding information relating to medical services and specific treatments and preparing a summary of the implications for commissioners.

The role offers the opportunity for the post holder to develop their skills compiling reports, collating and summarising data and presenting to small working groups. You will also have the opportunity to increase your knowledge across the breadth of specialist work that the team undertakes to support the ICB in ensuring that the drugs and treatments provided for people in Devon represent the best use of the NHS budget allocated to us.

It is a great place to learn how the health system is managed and the national strategic drivers that influence change.

Main duties of the job

You will join the Clinical Effectiveness team preparing summaries of NICE guidance and its implications using information published by NICE, their implementation tools and intelligence from providers. You will present these summaries to inform the NICE Planning Advisory Group and support processes for ensuring compliance with statutory responsibilities.

You will report to and be supported by an experienced governance manager, enabling you to produce comprehensive summaries across a wide range of medical specialities and guidance types whilst developing confidence and expertise in the output and processes of NICE.

By preparing a monthly bulletin for local dissemination you will support awareness of published NICE guidance.

Your role includes maintaining awareness of forthcoming NICE guidance to inform work plans and opportunities to engage with NICE processes.

As you grow in experience in the role you will support the wider business functions of the team managing the mailbox, responding to internal and external queries, and fulfilling information governance requirements.
