Cheshire East Central Team

There is a vacancy in the Central team ( Sandbach, Alsager, Middlewich and Congleton) for a part time school nurse to work with a team of public Health Nurses and school nurses.

Working with schools families and the wider community to improve the health of school-aged children identifying the more vulnerable and developing clear referral pathways so that all children and young people can reach their full potential.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will have proven leadership, experience and knowledge of school nursing. If you want to make a difference to the health of school aged children within Cheshire East and have a commitment to reducing health inequalities and work with vulnerable families, we would very much like to hear from you.

You will work closely with the, education and social care to provide services in response to identified need, both public health and safeguarding. whilst working in partnership Cheshire East Local Authority to take the local children’s agenda forward.

School Nursing is a fast paced, dynamic and challenging service, and as a School Nurse with us you will be given opportunity to demonstrate leadership whilst working within the public health, health promotion and safeguarding domains.

You should be well organised, have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively with children and young people both in school and within other education provider settings. You must be committed to working effectively both within a team and independently.

An in depth knowledge of the current trends and developments within school nursing and the health agenda relating to children’s services is essential.

  • RN (Adult or Child/RSCN)
  • Postgraduate in Specialist Community Public Health Nursing- School Nursing or equivalent
  • Leadership Level 6
  • Mentorship Level 6
  • Solihull Approach Trained
Desirable criteria
  • Motivational Interviewing trained
  • Promotional Interviewing trained
  • Mentorship Level 7
  • Leadership Level 7

Experience and knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Experience of managing a School Nurse Caseload
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
