The starting salary for this role is £28,422 - £30,371 per annum (pro rata to £40,929 - £43,735 FTE) , working 25 hours per week.

This is a 12-month part time fixed term contract/ secondment opportunity.

Are you ready to kickstart your career in 2025 with a fresh challenge? We have an exciting secondment opportunity for a PS9 grade Occupational Therapist to join our Specialist Learning Disabilities and Autism Occupational Therapy team on a part-time basis.

As a well-established Specialist Occupational Therapy Service within Adult Social Care, we are committed to developing and implementing innovative ideas while working collaboratively with our adult social care colleagues.

We support adults diagnosed with learning disabilities and/or autism to optimise their occupational participation through evidence-based, resident-focused OT assessments and interventions.

About the Team

The LD&A Occupational Therapy team provide a countywide service with collaborative working with the East and West LD&A adult social care teams. We have access to any of the main SCC office bases, currently dividing our office time between Millmead in Guildford and Fairmount House in Leatherhead.

About the Role

You will be visiting adults in their own homes; supported living; care homes; educational establishments; day services and in the community, carrying out assessments and giving advice regarding complex moving and handling, the provision of specialist equipment and property design and adaptation.
You will also advise on functional assessments to guide potential skills gain interventions for residents, as well as advising with regards to right sizing for funded care and support needs. You will provide advice and support to adults, their family carers and independent support providers - often enabling them to move on to a more independent lifestyle.

You will have the opportunity to include a sensory informed approach and consideration of the use of technology to support adults in achieving high quality outcomes.

Shortlisting Criteria

To be considered for shortlisting for this position, your application will clearly evidence the following:

  • Experience working with complex cases and how you prioritise and manage risks
  • Knowledge of key legislation that you use in your daily practice to support your clinical reasoning and decision making
  • Any direct experience of lived experience you have working with or supporting adults with profound and multiple learning disabilities / autism.
  • Experience supporting registered and non registered staff within their job roles
  • What key transferable skills you will be bringing to enhance our Learning disability and Autism Occupational Therapy team and working in social care.
