Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust is looking to appoint 2 full time Specialty Doctors to work in our acute Frailty Unit either site.
The successful candidate will be an integral member of the multidisciplinary team in geriatric medicine and therefore applications are invited from doctors who wish to be part of a high performing dynamic workforce. This post will provide excellent experience in acute frailty and interface medicine with opportunities for training and development within the Trust.
Main duties of the job
Specialty Doctor in Geriatric Medicine (Frailty unit)
The post holder will be based on the acute frailty unit and be paramount in delivering comprehensive geriatric assessments to frail older adults, as well as being an ambassador for frailty outside of the unit. This is a permanent role which will provide exposure to other disciplines within the medical specialities.
The post is full time 10 PA’s – 9 DCC – 1 SPA
Working range of 7 Day Service – 1 weekend in 4 as part of roster

There are opportunities for the successful post holders to be based at either of the Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells sites, however travel between sites may on occasions be required. Both Maidstone and Tunbridge wells hospital are located within a short distance of the town centre, which offers a range of amenities including shops, bars and restaurants and is on the doorstep of some of Kent’s most beautiful countryside – the best of both worlds!There are fantastic travel links in Kent with key motorways such as the M2 and M20 and with excellent accessibility to both London and the continent by train.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To participate actively in departmental audits and QIPs, sharing co-ordination of audit activities within the department and implementation of change.
To engage with undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
To ensure at all times that you comply with the General Medical Council’s published guide “Good Medical Practice” including the Duties of a Doctor.
To take personal responsibility for risk management in your work and undertake to review practices and learn from mistakes

Qualifications
Essential criteria- Full registration with GMC.
- Academic higher degree or diploma.
- MRCP
- Instructor status: ALS
Training and Experience
Essential criteria- Wide experience of general medicine
- Awareness of clinical governance with particular reference to geriatric medicine and PD
Audit
Essential criteria- Thorough understanding of principles of medical audit. Must have undertaken and completed audit projects.
- Evidence of active participation in audit and a track record of achieving positive change through audit.
- Familiarity with information technology and general computer skills.
Research and Publications
Essential criteria- An understanding of general principles, scientific method and interpretation of literature
- Research in relevant field leading to a Masters or equivalent degree.
