Probationary Period
All new staff to the Trust will be subject to a standard 6 month probationary period, the details of which will duly follow in your contract of employment.

Agile and Flexible Working
All our staff will have a work base. However the Trust operates as an Agile Working Team therefore staff may be working from home on a regular basis as required by the service. However, occasionally travel around Warwickshire and into your base will be required so access to your own transport would be helpful.

South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust is rated as Outstanding and is seeking to employ 2 FT and 1 LTFT Emergency Medicine Consultants as part of a Consultant expansion.
A consultant with a special interest in Paediatric Emergency Medicine would be advantageous, though not essential.
Applicants should possess full GMC registration, FRCEM (or equivalent) and either already be on the Specialist Register or be within 6 months of receiving their CCT at the time of interview.

Qualifications
Essential criteria- FRCEM
- CCT Holder
- Entry on the Specialist Register in Emergency Medicine or entry expected within 6 months from the date of interview
- Full GMC Registration
- Higher Degree
- Current ALS, ATLS, APLS, MIMMS certification (or equivalent)
- Dual Accreditation - Paediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM)
- Supporting Higher Specialist Training and a commitment to supporting career development and simulation training.
Experience
Essential criteria- Specialist Registrar training and experience or equivalent
- Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining CCT in Emergency Medicine
- Ability to take full and independent responsibility for the management of all emergency department presentations
- Level 1 or above training and experience in ultrasound scanning
- Research experience
Management
Essential criteria- Able to work as a member of the team and to share administrative and management responsibilities
- Ability to organise and prioritise workload effectively
- Ability to plan strategically and to exercise sound judgements when faced with conflicting pressures
- Ability to motivate and develop the multi-disciplinary team, balancing departmental and personal objectives
- Awareness of Service Development issues
Clinical Effectiveness and Governance
Essential criteria- Relevant experience in undertaking and organisation of audit and ability to present evidence
- Personal experience of audit involvement
- Commitment to evidence based practice. Ability to use the evidence base and clinical audit to support decision-making
- Awareness of current specialty developments, initiatives and issues
- Willingness to organise relevant audit activities
- Knowledge and experience of the application of information technology to Emergency Medicine
- Publications in relevant peer-reviewed journals in the last five years

Communication Skills
Essential criteria- Clear, fluent and articulate in verbal and written communication and presentation

Teaching and Training Experience
Essential criteria- Extensive experience and interest in teaching
- Ability to teach clinical skills to medical and nursing staff and other disciplines

- Instructor in life support courses
