IT Solution Architect
Hybrid – attached to our office in Solihull, Hook or LondonFull Time, Permanent Salary
  • £65k-£75k depending on experience.Here at Serco, we are looking for a IT Solution Architect to support the execution of IT projects and bids by working with key stakeholders to understand the business requirements, identifying any gaps between business requirements and current IT capabilities, defining solutions to bridge the gaps, and making sure that the project scope is maintained, and solutions implemented in line with Serco architectural principles and the IT strategy for the business unit.

You will work closely with clients and business representatives to understand their business needs and design solutions to tackle the IT need of each project or bid.

As part of this you’ll:

  • Work with the IT Project Manager to understand the needs of the business and produce designs & solutions for each project.
  • Liaise with the business development and bid teams to formulate appropriate solutions and cost models.
  • Attend solution reviews and, if appropriate, governance boards, to ensure solutions are approved and adhere to Serco architectural standards.
  • Ensure compliance with solution architectural designs in the implementation of projects and bids.
  • Providing architectural guidance and design leadership to the project delivery team to ensure delivery is in line with the design.
  • Explain technical issues and IT solution strategies to non-technical stakeholders and other IT professionals as required in support of solutions.
  • Ensure solution and service designs are aligned with business needs and support Enterprise Architecture roadmaps and IT strategies.
  • Describe the design of the solution and service in sufficient detail for work to be planned, discussed, and clearly understood by business users.

What you’ll need to do the role:

  • A strong architectural background with demonstrable experience in designing, building and integrating solutions across multiple SaaS Vendor products and a strong technical background in one of the following IT disciplines: CRM & Case Management, Cloud Infrastructure (ideally Microsoft), Application & Data Integration.
  • Experience in Government-outsourced opportunities and practical experience of understanding business requirements, whilst maintaining a knowledge of current and emerging IT technologies.
  • A degree in IT related discipline (or appropriate working experience) is required along with an understanding of modern IT infrastructure, applications, and Cloud-based technologies (SaaS, Azure etc.)
  • You must be able to offer clearly defined solutions to business problems, along with being an analytical thinker and logical in approaching issues.
  • You will have effective communication skills that enables you to convey complex technical details to clients in laymen terms.
  • You will have up-to-date technologies exposure.
  • You will need to identify technical issues and design solutions to fix them, gathering and assimilating information.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with business and IT stakeholders.
  • Good knowledge of security standards, legislation, best practice etc.
