Senior Integration and Solution Architect | The Christie NHS Foundation Trust

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Christie to help grow our digital systems and services. The post holder will be working closely with third parties in supporting and guiding technical work. The post holder will also need to oversee integration contracts ensuring the best products/services related to integration are agreed.

The post holder will be responsible for the implementation, support and/or upgrade of complex EHR developments, developed applications, data sharing solutions and the Trust Integration Engine (TIE). The post holder will coordinate the design, system validation, implementation and upgrade activities across developed solutions and venues of care, developing more complex aspects of the Trust's EHR systems.

The post holder will be responsible of managerial duties over technical teams which will cover external and external staff.
  1. Provide technical leadership and guidance to teams to proactively identify and resolve technical issues and risks.
  2. Provide budgetary oversight and recruitment of staff in integration and software engineering.
  3. Provide guidance and support to teams on best practices, and technical implementation.
  4. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and objectives and translate them into comprehensive technical strategies for developing digital and data architecture.
  5. Collaborate with system and regional wide teams, to ensure alignment and proper integration of technical components.
  6. Create roadmaps and digital architectural designs that support the Digital Strategy and long-term vision of the Trust.
  7. Design and implement robust, scalable, and secure technical solutions that meet business and regulatory requirements.
  8. Define and support core architecture standards to ensure consistency and coherence across project by modelling approach that will integrate data and digital processes with wider human and operational processes.
  9. Ensure development governance structures including operational groups, meetings, methodologies, risk management, incident management and other working practices are defined and regularly reviewed for effectiveness.
  10. Define and monitor performance metrics within the teams and hold the leads to account in delivering them.

The Christie is one of Europe’s leading cancer centres, treating over 60,000 patients a year. We are based in Manchester and serve a population of 3.2 million across Greater Manchester & Cheshire, but as a national specialist around 15% patients are referred to us from other parts of the country.

We provide radiotherapy through one of the largest radiotherapy departments in the world; chemotherapy on site and through 14 other hospitals; highly specialist surgery for complex and rare cancer; and a wide range of support and diagnostic services.

We are also an international leader in research, with world first breakthroughs for over 100 years.

We run one of the largest early clinical trial units in Europe with over 300 trials every year. Cancer research in Manchester, most of which is undertaken on the Christie site, has been officially ranked the best in the UK.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Ensure objectives, policy and procedures are developed and implemented consistently to achieve the highest standards of development practice within Digital Services teams and Trust wide.
  2. Provide technical leadership and guidance to teams to proactively identify and resolve technical issues and risks.

  10. Ensure development governance structures including operational groups, meetings, methodologies, risk management, incident management and other working practices are defined and regularly reviewed for effectiveness.
  11. Define and monitor performance metrics within the teams and hold the leads to account in delivering them.
  12. Ensure the links, formal reporting and communications of work between Digital Services, the programme team and the digital clinical representatives are optimised and regularly reviewed for effectiveness.
  13. Oversee the delivery of action plans to address key risks arising from assessment of priority, incidents, and issues.
  14. The post holder will have a high degree of autonomy in making decisions on proposed designs, solutions and methodologies in software engineering.
  15. The post holder will be required to appraise and implement technical direction considering the expert advice from their professional teams, industry trend and external expert advice as required.
  16. Will hold responsibility for the non-functional and support implications of technical developments and will advise the Trust on the actions required to fulfil any perceived shortfall of accepted standard.
  17. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in technology architecture. Actively promote and participate in a culture of knowledge-sharing initiatives, ongoing learning and improvement.
  18. To respond appropriately to operational issues as required.
  19. To document and maintain existing and new data feed requirements and work with third party suppliers / trust resources in process mapping, message mapping and integration testing for these feeds.
  20. To provide oversight and risk mitigation for interface activities with technical and third-party system interface engagement teams.
  21. To provide data conversion/migration expertise.
  22. To provide technical documentation such as reference materials, installation instructions, knowledge-based articles, and specifications related to developments and interface feeds.
  23. To manage the implementation of developed configuration changes to the trust's clinical applications.
