Would you like the opportunity to develop your ward management skills in Vascular Nursing? Do you have a passion for continuous improvement?
We have an exciting opportunity for a highly confident, experienced nurse Ward Lead post on Ward 15 our Regional Vascular Hub.
As the Ward Lead you will have continuous management responsibility and leadership for the ward area involving the provision of evidence-based patient care, effective and efficient management of resources and the provision of staff development and education.
You will be expected to work clinically alongside Consultants, Clinicians and other multi-disciplinary teams. You will ensure that high standards are maintained; with patient safety being your top priority.
This role requires UK NMC Registration

Main duties of the job
You must have excellent communication skills and be able to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team; whilst always being an excellent role model. As a key member of the team and working closely with Matron, you will have the ability to support, teach and develop junior staff and facilitate the delivery of high standards of patient care on the vascular ward.
The successful applicant should be a team player, empathetic and able to remain calm and composed under pressure. This role also requires reassuring manner and the understanding of the rights, privacy & dignity and safeguarding of all patients.

- Recognised supporting Learners Qualification
- Leadership or Management Qualification
- Recruitment & Selection Course
- Project Management
Experience
Essential criteria- Demonstrable post-registration experience, to include recent experience at Band 6
- Leading and managing Staff
- Comprehensive Vascular Experience
Technical Skills and Competencies
Essential criteria- Proven Leadership
- Extended role skills, IV drug administration, Cannulation and phlebotomy, CVAD.
- Computer literacy particularly working with e.g. excel spread sheets and access databases
- Complex Wound Management
Knowledge
Essential criteria- Advanced specialist theoretical and practical specialist knowledge of patient pathways
- Evidence of managing complaints both formally and at ward level
- Evidence of knowledge and managing staff through human policies and procedures
Other requirements
Essential criteria- Excellent organisational skills
- Able to manage clinical concerns and delays in patient care, escalating appropriately when required
Personal Attributes
Essential criteria- patient focussed
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
