We are looking for an experienced senior leader in Estates to join our team and lead on driving our vision to be an outstanding and innovative Estates & Facilities Division; providing an excellent and safe environment for everyone, driving positive change and improving patient care.
In this key leadership role, you will make a difference by managing and delivering safe, effective, and compliant estate services, ensuring the continued success and development of our facilities for the Trust, its staff, patients, and visitors.You will lead the Estates, Business Support, and the Sustainability teams. The role covers all sites Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust operates.
You will provide leadership, strategic vision, and management of the Estates team, represent the RUH, Estates, and Facilities in external forums and networks, and lead development projects of strategic importance.
The role also involves financial management, risk identification and mitigation, and developing a robust and agile estates team. Additionally, the Associate Director is accountable for estates governance, maintenance, health and safety, and supporting wider Trust teams in business cases and capital projects.
Main duties of the job
You will play a key role in supporting the delivery of the RUH Estates Strategy that has recently delivered the Dyson Cancer Center, a purpose-built facility designed to enhance cancer care for over 500,000 people in the Southwest. Supported by over £40m in Government funding and additional charitable donations, this Centre exemplifies our commitment to excellent patient care and innovation.Find out more.
Additionally, you will be a key stakeholder in the delivery of our ambitious energy efficiency project. This £21.6 million decarbonisation initiative, funded by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, aims to support our net-zero ambitions by 2030.The project will include decommissioning outdated heating systems and replacing them with energy-efficient options such as heat pumps. This initiative is projected to reduce carbon emissions by 24% annually, equivalent to over 3,400 tonnes of carbon dioxide, significantly enhancing the hospital's sustainability.
A relocation package can be discussed for a successful candidate who would need to relocate to take up the role.

- Evidence of CPD and Professional Networking
- Post Graduate Management Qualification
- Specialist Training in Healthcare engineering or compliance related disciplines
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria- Significant operational experience on acute healthcare or comparable industry
- Significant senior management experience
- Significant financial management and budgetary control experience
- Significant experience engaging with diverse groups of stakeholders and leading multidisciplinary teams.
