The University Hospitals of Derby and Burton have a rare and exciting opportunity for a Principal Physiologist/Clinical Scientist to work in collaboration with the existing Principal Physiologist team. The post will be primarily based at Queens hospital, Burton with regular rotation to the Royal Derby Hospital.

You should already possess the skills and experience in leading a team as well as having a proven ability for technical and operational management. Maintaining your own clinical skills will also be an important part of the role.

The department continues to undergo transformations as services develop across sites. Being an integral part of this transformation will be key to the growing demands of a diagnostic service.

You must be an experienced Healthcare Scientist/Physiologist and have the ability to work under pressure. Managing your own workload as well as that of your team is vital to ensure the continuity of a high quality, diagnostic service. You will oversee and lead on operations relevant to all areas of the department ensuring high quality services and standards are met.

  • Providing leadership and development for all practitioners across the department
  • To perform a combination of clinical, technical and operational management duties in our high quality Cardiorespiratory/Clinical Measurement departments as part of the existing Principal Physiologist team.
  • To act as operational manager for Cardio-respiratory, QHB
  • Perform highly specialist clinical duties to meet the demands of the service, including reporting of investigations.
  • Represent Cardio-respiratory/Clinical Measurement services in multi-disciplinary meetings and committees. Deputising for the Deputy General Manager when required.
  • Promote service developments and integration to maintain and advance the Clinical Measurement/Cardiorespiratory services of UHDB.
  • Support the ongoing Clinical Physiologist training programme as part of the department's long term strategy.
