About the Role:

We are seeking a Head of Workforce Planning & Operations to oversee the strategic workforce needs for the Scottish Event Campus (SEC), which is one of the UK’s leading event venues, comprising the SEC Centre, SEC Armadillo, and the OVO Hydro.

Hosting a variety of events from international conferences to concerts, exhibitions, and more.

The role of Head of Workforce Planning & Operations at the SEC for Levy encompasses a comprehensive and strategic approach to the venue’s workforce planning, ensuring the organisation is staffed with qualified and motivated personnel to meet its goals.

This role is pivotal in conducting volume recruitment campaigns to attract a diverse and skilled workforce, crucial for the operational efficiency and innovation of the SEC. Additionally, the Head of Workforce Planning & Deployment is responsible for team retention strategies, focusing on creating a supportive and engaging work environment to reduce turnover and enhance employee satisfaction..

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Workforce Planning: Develop and implement a comprehensive people strategy, aligning with both Levy’s and SEC’s business goals to ensure the venue is staffed with exceptional culinary and hospitality professionals.
  • Team Leadership: Lead the People Operations team in recruitment, onboarding, payroll, and deployment, ensuring smooth operations across diverse and high-volume events.
  • Culinary & Service Excellence: Work closely with our teams to recruit and deploy top-tier culinary and service professionals who share our passion for creating extraordinary food and hospitality experiences.
  • Volume Recruitment: Design and lead large-scale recruitment campaigns to attract a diverse, highly qualified workforce, tailored to the needs of SEC’s dynamic events.
  • Employee Engagement & Wellbeing: Drive initiatives that foster a positive, inclusive workplace culture and enhance employee engagement, wellbeing, and retention.
  • Talent Management: Oversee talent development programs, including succession planning, leadership development, and staff training, with a focus on delivering excellent service.
  • Innovative Recruitment Strategies: Collaborate with marketing and communications to develop sourcing strategies, including partnerships with educational institutions, job boards, and social media.
  • Operational Oversight: Ensure efficient resource planning and deployment across events, maintaining SEC’s reputation for seamless, first-class service

About You:

  • Experience: Proven track record in senior workforce planning or people operations roles, ideally within the events or hospitality sectors. Strong understanding of volume recruitment is essential.
  • Leadership: Inspirational leader with the ability to motivate and develop teams in high-pressure, fast-paced environments.
  • People Passion: Deep understanding of managing people & employee related issues, with an appreciation for the complexities of recruiting and staffing venues to create extraordinary experiences.
  • Problem-Solving: Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and decision-making skills, with the ability to navigate complex employee relations matters.
  • Diversity & Inclusion Advocate: Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace, where each team member feels valued and empowered to contribute.
  • CIPD Qualification: Desirable but not essential.
