Associate CBT Therapist - Fully Remote (Self-Employed)
Focus: Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
Overview
An established online therapy practice is seeking a self-employed Associate CBT Therapist with a strong interest and experience in working with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD).
This role involves supporting clients experiencing intrusive thoughts, compulsions, and anxiety-driven cycles, using structured, evidence-based CBT approaches.
The Role- Fully remote (working with UK-based clients)
- Self-employed associate position
- Flexible working pattern (between 5–20 hours per week, depending on your availability and client demand)
- Referrals offered as available, with caseload developing over time
This role may suit a therapist who is building or expanding their private practice and values working within a clearly defined clinical focus.
Clinical Focus
Clients may present with a range of OCD-related difficulties, including:
- Contamination, checking, harm, sexual, false memory, religious, and relationship OCD themes
- Intrusive thoughts and mental rituals
- Reassurance-seeking patterns
- Avoidance behaviours
Clients may also present with co-occurring difficulties, including trauma, mood disorders, personality-related difficulties, eating disorders, and body dysmorphic disorder (BDD).
Some cases may involve elevated levels of risk, including self-harm. Therapists should feel confident in risk assessment, risk management, and appropriate clinical decision-making.
A structured, evidence-informed approach to OCD, particularly CBT with Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), is essential.
Requirements- Recognised counselling or psychotherapy qualification (Level 4+ or equivalent)
- Membership with a recognised professional body (e.g. BABCP, BACP, UKCP, NCPS, COSCA, or equivalent)
- Professional indemnity insurance
- Access to regular clinical supervision appropriate to caseload
- Formal training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
- Demonstrable competence in working with OCD using Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)
- Confidence delivering therapy online
- Reliable internet connection
- Training in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
- Training in trauma-informed approaches
- Training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- Training in Inference-Based CBT (I-CBT) for OCD
- Experience working with complex presentations and managing clinical risk
