Focus: Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

Overview

An established online therapy practice is seeking a self-employed Associate CBT Therapist with a strong interest and experience in working with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD).

This role involves supporting clients experiencing intrusive thoughts, compulsions, and anxiety-driven cycles, using structured, evidence-based CBT approaches.

The Role
  • Fully remote (working with UK-based clients)
  • Self-employed associate position
  • Flexible working pattern (between 5–20 hours per week, depending on your availability and client demand)
  • Referrals offered as available, with caseload developing over time

This role may suit a therapist who is building or expanding their private practice and values working within a clearly defined clinical focus.

Clinical Focus

Clients may present with a range of OCD-related difficulties, including:

  • Contamination, checking, harm, sexual, false memory, religious, and relationship OCD themes
  • Intrusive thoughts and mental rituals
  • Reassurance-seeking patterns
  • Avoidance behaviours

Clients may also present with co-occurring difficulties, including trauma, mood disorders, personality-related difficulties, eating disorders, and body dysmorphic disorder (BDD).

Some cases may involve elevated levels of risk, including self-harm. Therapists should feel confident in risk assessment, risk management, and appropriate clinical decision-making.

A structured, evidence-informed approach to OCD, particularly CBT with Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), is essential.

Requirements
  • Recognised counselling or psychotherapy qualification (Level 4+ or equivalent)
  • Membership with a recognised professional body (e.g. BABCP, BACP, UKCP, NCPS, COSCA, or equivalent)
  • Professional indemnity insurance
  • Access to regular clinical supervision appropriate to caseload
  • Formal training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Demonstrable competence in working with OCD using Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)
  • Confidence delivering therapy online
  • Reliable internet connection
Desirable Skills & Experience
  • Training in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
  • Training in trauma-informed approaches
  • Training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Training in Inference-Based CBT (I-CBT) for OCD
  • Experience working with complex presentations and managing clinical risk

How to Apply

Please submit:

  • A CV
  • A short cover note outlining your experience working with OCD and ERP (please reference if you have additional training in other modalities, i.e., DBT, Schema, ACT, Psychodynamic, etc.)
