We are looking for a full-time Teacher of Geography to join and contribute to the continued development of a high-achieving, popular and forward-thinking department. You will be a passionate, dynamic and creative individual, able to foster high standards of teaching, learning and feedback.

The Geography department, situated in the heart of the campus, is a vibrant and environmentally conscious team. We are a paperless department that integrates digital tools such as OneNote into teaching and learning, so familiarity with this platform would be advantageous.

The department consists of three full-time and two part-time Geography specialists, working collaboratively to deliver engaging lessons and enriching experiences for students across all year groups.

The department has four dedicated classrooms, each equipped with interactive Smartboards to support high-quality teaching and learning. Our curriculum spans from Year 7 through to A Level, with the Edexcel International GCSE (4GE1) offered at Key Stage 4 and the Cambridge International A Level (9696) taught in the Sixth Form.

Geography is one of the most popular subjects at the College, consistently achieving strong results, and many students go on to pursue Geography and related disciplines at university.

We place a strong emphasis on fieldwork, recognising its importance in fostering geographical understanding and skills. Our extensive programme includes trips to Field Studies Centres such as Nettlecombe Court and Juniper Hall, as well as international experiences such as Iceland, which inspire awe and wonder while reinforcing key concepts.

Beyond the classroom, the department runs a thriving enrichment programme, including a Geography Undergraduate Club, Geography clubs for younger students in collaboration with St Neot’s Preparatory School, participation in the Geographical Association’s activities, and access to undergraduate-level lectures at Royal Holloway University.

We are looking for a Teacher who will teach and deliver engaging and high-quality Geography lessons across Years 7 to 13, aligned with department development plans and exam specifications; contribute to the planning and development of a forward-thinking curriculum, with a focus on creativity, academic rigour, and environmental sustainability; and foster a culture of excellence in teaching, learning, and feedback, supporting students to achieve their potential at all levels and participate in fieldwork and enrichment activities to inspire students and enhance their geographical knowledge and skills.

Accommodation may be available, along with a broad range of staff benefits, including a contributory pension scheme, fee remission for children, and complimentary restaurant-quality hot and cold food available.

Should you wish to discuss the role in strict confidence, please feel free to contact the Head of Geography, Jan Norgaard on norgaardj@lordwandsworth.org.

Closing date: 24th February 2025.
