Responsibilities / Position overview:
The Copy Editor ensures the editorial accuracy and quality of company deliverables.- Ensures the overall editorial accuracy and quality of all written material with respect to style, consistency, grammar, spelling, and punctuation
- Communicates effectively with Medical Colleagues, Account Service Colleagues, and the Creative department to ensure quality/editorial accuracy of work
- Understands and applies principles of good publication practice
- Performs the appropriate level of edit as directed by the Medical Colleagues (neither “overedits” nor “underedits”)
- Meets project deadlines without compromising editorial quality
- Effectively manages multiple projects when necessary
- Assists Medical Writers in entering corrections to manuscripts when appropriate
- Communicates with team members on deadlines when appropriate
- Keeps track of any client style directives and ensures that subsequent pieces follow this style
- Assists Publication Technology Manager in keeping EndNote entries accurate and up-to-date
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Flexible, deadline oriented, and able to work as part of a multifunctional team
- Maintains a professional attitude, even in challenging situations
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to adjust quickly to changing priorities
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
- Ability to perform editing in a variety of therapeutic areas
- Excellent working knowledge of good publication practices and industry guidelines
- Ability to quickly and amicably respond to changing client needs and conditions
- Ability to evaluate, interpret, and analyze both written and verbal communications
- Maintains a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters teamwork
- Understands and complies with policies and procedures as outlined in the Lumanity Corporate Handbook
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in English
- 1-3 years of editorial experience
