Clinical Research Practitioner | Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
The NIHR Clinical Research Facility (CRF) at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London has recently been awarded funding from the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) to optimise the delivery of world class research in ophthalmology and science associated with vision and sight.
The Facility forms part of the Moorfields NIHR Biomedical Research Centre for Ophthalmology, a joint initiative between Moorfields Eye Hospital and University College London Institute of Ophthalmology and is one of three London based Academic Health Science centres which together form the University College London Partners.
The CRF is dedicated to the delivery of high quality clinical research, including experimental medicine and translational research studies, pioneering new therapies for the treatment of a range of ophthalmic disorders.
It offers a clinical environment in which patients and researchers are supported by a team of specialist research support staff including ophthalmic research nurses, administrators and technicians.
The post holder will, within agreed competencies, provide research support for a portfolio of studies, taking the role of Clinical Research Practitioner (CRP), to ensure that all research related activity from feasibility through to completion of studies, are undertaken in a professional, competent and friendly manner.
The post holder will assist clinicians and other members of the research team to support research patients throughout the research process ensuring the well-being and safety of patients at all times. They will be required to complete and maintain study specific documents in line with Good Clinical Practice guidelines (GCP and all other applicable regulatory requirements.

Work as part of a team of research active staff, coping with a flexible timetable to cover the clinical requirements of the CRF as efficiently as possible.
Provide on-going advice and support to patients and families in the outpatient clinics and by telephone.
Develop and implement specialist care programmes (where appropriate) alongside the implementation of clinical trials and utilise professional background to deliver this.
Assisting with study assessments including obtaining blood samples and other appropriate pathological tests.
Act as an on-going point of contact for patients, families and other health professionals relating to clinical trials.
Working closely with the consultant and junior members of the clinical service and the research team to provide continuity of care.
Develop links with other NIHR clinical research facilities throughout the UK to improve local systems identifying patients who may be eligible for clinical trials.
Work with the Research and Development teams to collect metrics relating to clinical trial recruitment.
