We are seeking to recruit skilled, dedicated, committed and accomplished Accredited Clinical Coders to join our established Clinical Coding Team at the East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Trust (ESNEFT).
We are looking for candidates with clinical coding experience across all specialties in an acute setting and with desire to further their career.
The department has an established internal Clinical Coding Audit Program and offers comprehensive training for all coders with help developing existing skills and learning new ones.
You will require excellent communication skills, organisation skills and to be able to work as part of a team to deliver timely and accurate coded data to meet the Trusts deadlines.

Main duties of the job- To abstract and analyse complex clinical information from patient records and translate this into a coded format in line with National Standards. To have a high level of knowledge of Medical Terminology and Anatomy and Physiology.
- To enter the final encoded data onto the appropriate computer systems to meet essential Trust requirements for statutory information and payment flows.
- You will work as part of a team of experienced trained and trainee staff and the job will involve rotation between duties working on all specialties.
- Deal with enquiries from all parts of the hospital.
- Analyse complex medical information from paper documents and via other computer systems.
- Ensure that patient records are processed in the correct manner and tracked to appropriate destinations using the computer tracking system.
- Act as mentor and assist in the education of less experienced coders.
- To be aware of wider information and patient administration service systems
- To ensure that computer and paper records are passed for remedial action or processed in the correct manner.

Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria- 5 GCSE’s including English & Maths or equivalent level of attainment.
- Accredited Clinical Coding Qualification (ACC)
- GCSE Human Sciences or equivalent level of attainment
- ECDL
Experience
Essential criteria- Substantial Clinical Coding expertise across all specialties and levels of complexity, to be proven either by an acceptable portfolio of evidence or sitting an internal examination.
- Medical Terminology; Anatomy and Physiology;
- PAS or equivalent system
- Good experience of Microsoft Office
- Two years experience
Knowledge and Skills
Essential criteria- Ability to analyse and abstract complex records
- Attention to detail
- Keyboard skills and data entry
- Excel spreadsheets
- Ability to communicate with staff at all levels
- Ability to research and self teach
