The post holderwill workwithinourIntegratedContactCentres(ICC)basedacross theNorth West.AsaUECCyou willbe responsible fortheremoteassessment ofpatientswhilstensuringthe delivery of excellent patient care through the continuous achievement of high clinical standards.Further development will be offered once you have completed yourinitialtraining followedby a period ofskillconsolidation.

Once this period of consolidation is complete, the post holder willberequiredtodevelopadditionalskills to meet the needs of the service. Theseadditionalskills will includeprovidingclinical advice to both clinical andnon-clinicalcolleagues,supporting staff who are returning to practice or are new and require mentorship as well as otherspecialist skills such as managing the clinical queue andreferring calls onto partner organisations who provide Clinical Assessment Services on behalf of NWAS.It is a requirement of the role that theseadditionalskillsarecompletedin a timely mannerto ensure thatpatientsgetaccess tothe right care, at the right time, in the right place; every time.

What we are looking for:

  • Post registration clinical experience in a face to face,primary or acute care setting, emergency department or pre-hospital role.
  • Excellent leadership and mentoring skills to support staff.
  • Resilient, highlymotivatedand passionate about deliveringoutstandingpatient care.
  • An ability to adapt to a new and challenging setting.
  • Basic computer skills.

Remote triage within ICC’s is delivered ona 24/7 basis, withpost holders being expected to work a variety of shiftswhich may include full night shifts, BankHolidays,and other Public Holidays. A variety of shift lengthsare profiled across theICC’swith these ranging from 7.5 hours to 11.5 hours.

Shortlisted candidates willbe invited to complete a simulated telephone assessmentwhich will take place over TeamsW/C30thSeptember.

Successful candidatesfrom the first stagewill then be invited to aF2F interviewduringW/C7thOctober.

North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport.

Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed.

We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.

Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.

We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Training for this role is on a full-time basis and lasts between 5 and 10 weeks,depending on the triage tool that staff are being trained to use. The classroom element of the training is Monday to Friday 08:00-16:00, with mentorship taking place working shifts with experienced staff taking live calls.

Candidates must ensure that they are able to commit to this training IN FULL, as no annual leave can be taken whilst in training.

Training courses are currently planned throughout 2024 at venues across the North West. Specific dates will be discussed with successful candidates once any offer of employment is made.
