Fracture Clinic are excited to announce a vacancy for a Trainee Orthopaedic Casting Practitioner. Are you self- motivated and looking to work in a fast paced clinic where no day is ever the same. You will be joining a friendly and supportive team, who work closely with a variety of different disciplines within Trauma and Orthopaedics.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Trainee Orthopaedic Casting Practitioner with effective communication skills to join our friendly team. In return we offer on-going learning opportunities to support your professional development.

The successful candidate following a 12 month training period in our plaster rooms, will attend the British Orthopaedic Association Casting Course, to be become an Orthopaedic Casting Practitioner.

Our Fracture Clinic is part of the speciality of Trauma and Orthopaedics, we are forward facing providing outpatient care to Trauma and Orthopaedic patients. Care is provided to a very diverse range of patients including trauma, major trauma, elective orthopaedics and plastic surgery patients.

We work closely with A&E, Theatres, inpatient wards, paediatrics and primary care. The clinic works closely with the trauma nurse practitioners.

The post holder will be required to meet the care needs of orthopaedic patients attending Fracture clinic from a Casting Practitioner perspective.

To provide high quality patient focused service for orthopaedic patients, both within the clinic and throughout the hospital as required. To ensure that in your role you are updated with current practices with casting, plastering and orthotics and is able to actively use research as appropriate.

To support other services as required, including wards A and E and paediatric patients.

Able to deliver a casting training program for the multidisciplinary team with orthopaedics, including students and registered professionals with the trust.

Fracture clinic patients often attend with plaster problems. Your role will be to review these problems and change the cast when required
