We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Medical Secretary to join our current administrative team in the Cardiology Department. Primarily the role will be to provide secretarial and administrative support to the consultants, other allied health professionals and the current secretarial team across the division.
We are seeking a candidate who is eager to expand their own career, coupled with the enthusiasm to support a changeable environment with an innovative approach.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated person who can offer excellent secretarial and administration skills to assist in the provision of a comprehensive service. This post holder will work as part of a well-established team.
Main duties of the job
To be successful you will have excellent audio-typing, organisational and communication skills. You will have a flexible and professional approach to the work and enjoy the variety of communicating with a wide range of people both internal and external to the Trust.This includes being the first point of contact for all forms of communication within the clinical team, ensuring the effective day to day running of the clinical practice and providing diary management and workload organisation for the consultants and their teams and providing cover for colleagues as necessary.

Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria- GCSE in English and Maths grade 9 to 4 (A* to C) or equivalent.
- Proven Windows experience (Word, Excel & PowerPoint).
- NVQ 3/4 or equivalent in Administration and/or customer care qualification.
- NVQ in Administration or equivalent. ECDL.
- Medical Secretary’s Diploma or AMSPAR medical secretary qualification.
- RSA stage III word processing or equivalent.
- RSA Stage III Audio typing.
Experience
Essential criteria- Substantive experience in customer services
- Experience of using Microsoft Office applications i.e. Excel reporting, Word & Outlook
- Knowledge and practical experience of hospital and IT systems including PAS, NHS mail, Maxims
- Experience of working within the NHS
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology
- Experience of the e-referrals, CCAT MAXIMS and Dragon
- Experience of 18 week patient pathways and RADAR.
