Main duties of the job

NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership provides Clinical Logistics Transport Service across all Health Boards in Wales via its Health Courier Service, and is seeking a HGV Driver/Storekeeper to join this service based in the South Wales area, serving all Wales.

On average, the service sorts (via its own mail sorting hubs), delivers and collects over 120,000 items of mail/medical notes per week, and transports in excess of 5 million movements of samples of Blood Products and Pathology in accordance with Accord Dangereux Routier, Good Manufacturing Practice & legislative requirements per year.

BANK CRITERIA

Essential criteria
  • No specific academic qualification, but a reasonable standard of general education is required, or equivalent relevant experience
  • Moving and Handling techniques, and general awareness of risk, health and safety issues and responsibilities
Desirable criteria
  • Good interpersonal skills, able to establish productive working relationships with colleagues, external contacts and, where necessary, with patients and members of the public
  • Methodical approach to administration, particularly when working in stores

CRITERIA

  • Driving a range of vans/ light commercial vehicles
  • Dealing with customers and liaison with internal and external NHS contacts, patients and public

  • Ability to work alone with minimum supervision or as a member of a team
  • Good verbal and written communication skills are required to convey information and complete all necessary documentation accurately and legibly
