About our Client

Our client has a diagnosis of Spinal Muscular Atrophy type 2 which has profoundly weakened her voluntary muscles. As a result, she is a full-time powered wheelchair user, her respiratory system is compromised and the majority of her nutrition is met via a gastrostomy.

Her many hobbies include watching Crystal Palace Football Team, Formula 1, listening to music and Netflix, Disney+ ect.

The client leads a very active social life by meeting up with friends and family.

With a joyful and delightful persona, as well as a good sense of humour, our client enjoys going out to social events, such as parties, pubs and nights out.

As written by her...

"I am a young female and although I am in a wheelchair I still like to get out and about and be a social butterfly, it would be important to me for my carers to not only be there for me but also enjoy and be involved in whatever we are doing.

Sometimes I like to have my own space and be given some privacy, so as long as I am comfortable, and you are at the other end of the phone I can be left alone in my room or with friends when out.

My appearance is very important to me, and I like to make decisions on outfits I wear, hair styles etc, it would be useful if you could do hair (but I’m sure anyone is better than my mum ??).

I do have my own accessible vehicle that can be driven by carers with a full valid licence but as I am studying in central London the car will stay at home so I will be taking public transport everywhere whilst away, when at home there may be times the car can be used to transport me places.

I like watching Netflix, YouTube and Disney + whenever there is no sport on the TV."

This role would suit a recent university graduate
