Youth Worker Opportunity - Secondary SEMH Alternative Provision, Birmingham

We are seeking a resilient and energetic Youth Worker to join a Secondary SEMH Alternative Provision in Birmingham.

This role is ideal for individuals with a background in youth work or mentoring, who are committed to supporting students with diverse needs.

School:

The school caters to students in Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 4, many of whom have struggled in mainstream education.

The provision supports a range of needs, including autism spectrum disorder, Asperger's Syndrome, speech and language difficulties, and severe social, emotional, and mental health challenges, such as ADHD.

The school features small class sizes, each supported by a teaching assistant, and differentiates its curriculum to ensure accessibility through tailored group work, 1:1 support, and adaptable teaching methods.

For KS2 or KS3 students on short-term placements, there is also a Nurture provision.

Experience, Training, and Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in a similar setting (SEMH/PRU) is required.
  • Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent preferred.
  • Up-to-date Safeguarding training within the last year.
  • Team Teach qualification is desirable or willingness to complete training with our agency.
Eligibility Criteria:
  • Right to Work in the UK.
  • Enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service, or willingness to process a new application.
  • Two professional child-related references covering at least the last two years.
