Senior Procurement Price Analyst
What was previously the purchasing department within MacTaggart Scott has recently undergone a restructure to support the transition to a strategic and pro-active Procurement & Supply Chain department to ensure it remains an effective and efficient function supporting the business in the longer term.
The Pre-Contract support function within Procurement & Supply Chain is responsible for coordination and successful execution of all bid and pre contract activity across the function, in particular leading on major bids as well as spares and repairs activity.The team also manages supplier activity ahead of contract placement (onboarding, terms and condition reviews, flowing down technical and legal requirements, seeking resolution to technical support requests etc) in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
The Senior Procurement Price Analyst (Pre-Contract/Bids) will lead and support achievement of the team’s objectives.
The post holder will oversee and physically perform formal bid tasks (managing enquiries, issuing formal RFQ’s / tenders, negotiating terms and prices etc), in support of MTS bid activity and will require to understand - and challenge – design baselines, supplier costs, as well as ensuring supply solutions to meet company requirements.The post holder will be required to support all other related pre-contract activity, as well as ensuring process efficiencies are maximized.
The role requires the ability to manage and effectively assign a complex and busy workload across the pre-contract function. The post holder will require a high level of attention to detail, to be able to operate effectively with other functions, whilst maintaining a high quality output within often challenging timescales.
Job Responsibilities:
The key responsibilities of the role are:
- Support delivery of the functions’ overall Procurement and Supply Chain Strategy, in turn supporting achievement of the company’s corporate goals.
- Support the wider Procurement & Supply Chain function where required.
- Ensure data used in support of cost profiles submitted for MTS bid activity is of high integrity and accurate.
- Undertake activities as necessary for bid completion, including preparation, issue, and analysis of quotations. Flow down support queries as necessary (e.g. material specification compliance / obsolescence) and ensure timely resolution.
- Engage proactively with colleagues in Bid, Commercial, Quality Assurance and Engineering Support departments to ensure the team fully supports business needs.
- Maintain positive relationships with suppliers, seeking optimal sourcing solutions and maximise pricing validity wherever possible.
- Maintain awareness of market cost drivers and supply chain impacts, to be able to share impacts on potential bid requirements.
- Support supplier negotiations as required.
- Ensure agreeable Terms & Conditions, NDA’s, SAL’s, Export Licences, etc are in place (where applicable) with all suppliers at the Pre-Contract stage and that relevant customer flow downs are agreed with the supplier in conjunction with bid activity.
- Ensure that all cost and procurement data is maintained on systems, including ERP, to support accurate supplier, contract and bid management.
- Ensure all activities comply with company policies, procedures and reporting requirements
- Attend / support internal meetings as required, including project updates, bid gate reviews, procurement department, planning etc.
- Provide supplier management across appointed areas. Where required, manage and drive visibility of supplier performance metrics and management / improvement plans with relevant suppliers.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Essential/Required:
- Previous bid / estimating process experience.
- Supply chain principles and techniques.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
- Effective communication skills (written, oral and presentation).
- Previous experience in use of ERP systems.
- High competency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint.
- Be able to work positively and collaboratively with the wider stakeholder community, both internal and external.
- Be able to pro-actively and effectively prioritise and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment and delivery results.
- Have self-discipline, motivation and the ability to organise workload
- Problem solving.
Minimum Professional, Academic or Other Qualifications
Essential:
- CIPS Level 4 or working towards.
