We are looking to recruit a motivated, enthusiastic and forward thinking Band 5 Occupational Therapist to join the rotational schemes across Dorset Healthcare University NHS Foundation Trust (DHC) and University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust (UHD).

If successful at interview, you will be employed by DHC but participate in the rotations offered across here and UHD.

This is a full time role, 37.5 hours per week. Weekend and Bank Holiday working will be required.

Our rotational posts include a wide variety of specialties including:

  • Acute Care (Respiratory, Surgery, Medicine and Intensive Care),
  • Poole and Bournemouth Intermediate Care teams
  • Older Persons Medicine (Admission Avoidance, Short stay, Rehabilitation and Day Hospital),
  • Musculoskeletal (Elective Orthopaedics, Trauma Orthopaedics and MSK Outpatients)
  • Neurotherapy (Stroke Unit and neuro rehab)
  • Inpatient Community Rehabilitation at Alderney Hospital
  • Community Rehabilitation with the Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch Community Therapy Team
  • Paediatrics (based with UHD)

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • • Pre reg Degree in Occupational Therapy either BSc(Hons) or MSc (Hons)
  • State Registered (HCPC).
Desirable criteria
  • • Member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapy (RCOT)
  • • Member of a clinical interest group
  • • Attendance at relevant pre/post registration courses

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Student experience/placements in the following areas: o Musculoskeletal OP o Orthopaedics, o Neurology o Elderly care, o ITU/Respiratory Medicine o Acute medicine. • Awareness of the physiotherapist’s role within the MDT.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience working within a care setting
  • Supervision of assistant staff
  • • Involvement in audit or quality improvement projects

  • Awareness of National Service Frameworks and Clinical Governance.
  • Understanding and application of Evidence Based Practice.
  • Application of risk assessments and considerations in practice.
